Nordic Audio Tools grew out of decades of hands-on work in recording studios and professional audio. We have been sitting behind consoles, working with artists, equipment and evolving studio technology since the 1990s. Over the years, one thing has remained constant: there is always room for a better tool — something that saves time, removes unnecessary steps or simply makes the creative process flow more naturally.
The transition from analogue studios to digital production changed our workflow dramatically, but it never completely replaced what came before. Instead, many studios became hybrid environments. The DAW moved to the centre of the production process, while racks remained filled with the analogue and digital hardware we knew, trusted and loved — sometimes literally thousands of kilos of equipment accumulated over decades.
Much of that hardware is still exceptional. The sound is right, the character is familiar and the equipment continues to earn its place in the rack. What has changed is the way we want to work with it.
That led to a simple question: if a piece of hardware can communicate digitally, why shouldn’t it feel like a natural part of the modern DAW workflow?
That question became one of the foundations of Nordic Audio Tools. Our controller plug-ins are designed to bring compatible hardware directly into the DAW while respecting the original instrument or processor in detail. The goal is to provide access to the original parameter set in a modern plug-in environment, while adding carefully considered features that improve recall, control and everyday workflow without taking away what makes the hardware special.
Nordic Audio Tools is not only about hardware control. Our studio and live tools are born from the same philosophy: solve real problems we encounter in real production environments. If a tool can make a repetitive task faster, a complex setup clearer or a creative workflow more enjoyable, we believe it is worth building — and worth sharing with others who work the same way.
